Nikhil Kapoor, M.D.,FACC, FSCAI

Interventional Cardiologist

Dr. Nik Kapoor is a board certified general and interventional cardiologist. He specializes in cardiac and vascular diseases. Dr. Kapoor is an Associate Clinical Professor at UCLA and is actively involved in teaching trainees and junior doctors. He is an attending physician for interns, residents and cardiology fellows. Dr. Kapoor has attained an outstanding degree of peer recognition and numerous professional achievements. He is currently listed in Super Doctors, a peer recognized honor, published in the Los Angeles magazine.

 

Dr. Kapoor’s primary interest is in providing the highest level of individualized care to each and every one of his patients. He has extensive clinical and academic experience in providing state-of-the-art professional, and evidence based clinical care.  

 

Dr. Kapoor has been awarded with the prestigious titles including Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and, Fellow of Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI). He has presented at numerous international conferences including American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology (ACC). Dr. Kapoor has also been invited as faculty at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference in interventional cardiology. He believes in developing and sharing knowledge that improves the care of patients around the world through innovative cardiovascular clinical research. 

 

Dr. Kapoor has worked and trained alongside national and international leaders in Cardiology. He has trained and worked at Harbor-UCLA (where he still maintains privileges), UCLA, Good Samaritan Hospital (in downtown Los Angeles) and Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He is board certified in general cardiology, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology.

 

Dr. Kapoor maintains active privileges at St Mary Medical Center, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Lakewood Regional Medical Center. 

 

Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Kapoor was awarded the St. Mary Medical Center Chief of Staff award for exceptional leadership and teaching abilities. He was also selected by Housestaff resident physicians and interns as teacher of the year for 2 consecutive years (maximum allowed being 2 years). 

Serap Sobnosky, M.D.,FACC, FSCAI

Dr. Sobnosky is board certified in General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Echocardiography. She has held positions in 3 different Continents (Asia, Europe, and North America). Dr. Sobnosky trained in Internal Medicine at TUFTS in Boston, and in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. She also completed residency programs in Turkey and Germany. She has a great understanding of cultural differences, and she has the privilege of comparing European and U.S. healthcare systems. As a female cardiologist, she is very involved in Women's Heart Disease and continues to show her interest by attending annual meetings in Women and Heart Disease. Dr. Sobnosky is highly experienced in managing patients with Tako-tsubo disease, which is more commonly seen in elderly women. She has presented her clinical cases in multiple international meetings, including Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference. She was also part of the Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) study group at Brigham Women’s Hospital and has conducted research with Dr. Jeffrey Popma at Harvard University. Her research interests are not only clinical, she is also experienced in basic science research in gene therapy in restenosis. She was also part of the research group in Grosshadern University at Munich, Germany.

 

Dr. Sobnosky currently has affiliations with Long Beach Memorial Hospital, St Mary Medical Center, and College Medical Center in Long Beach. She is involved in the teaching program, and she is one of the Core Faculty at College Medical Center. Dr. Sobnosky is also involved in teaching St Mary Medical Center residents.

 

Dr. Sobnosky has been awarded the prestigious titles, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and Fellow of Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI), and she is a Member of ACC’s Women in Cardiology Section.

Nidhi Kapoor, Ph.D., CCRP

Dr. Nidhi Kapoor is an experienced multidisciplinary scientist (15+ years) with extensive knowledge and experience in clinical, basic and translational medicine. She directs the research at CIRC by combining her extensive background in cardiac research with her clinical trial management experience.

 

Dr. Kapoor is a highly motivated independent thinker, team leader and an effective communicator. She has expertise in the areas of cardiovascular medicine, regenerative medicine, cell and gene therapy and electrophysiology.

 

Previously (2008-2015) Dr. Kapoor was a scientist at Cedars-Sinai/ UCLA in Los Angeles, CA, where she designed novel hypothesis and executed studies using animal models to advance understanding of cardiovascular diseases for potential therapies. At Cedars-Sinai, she pioneered and developed a biological pacemaker, using transcription factor mediated reprogramming technology, that is currently in phase 1 clinical trials.

 

In recognition of her exceptional research, Dr. Kapoor was awarded the highly competitive Heart Rhythm Society Fellowship Grant in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology two years in a row (2010-2012). Her work was futher awarded with the prestigious Louis N. and Arnold M. Katz Basic Research award at American Heart Association Scientific Sessions (2012).

 

Dr. Kapoor has published extensively in top-tier scientific journals, and has worked alongside distinguished scientists and world renowned leaders in cardiac research. She has presented her scientific findings at national and international cardiology and physiology conferences such as American Heart Association Scientific Sessions, Heart Rhythm Society Meetings and Biophysical Society Annual Meetings. Dr. Kapoor earned a Ph.D with distinction from Loyola University Chicago in cardiac physiology in 2008.
